Right way to make rice in cooker

    • First of all, know that while making rice, the most important thing is to keep the quantity in mind. Take one and a half times as much water as the amount of rice you are taking. That means if you have taken 1 cup of rice, then you will use one and a half cup of water for it.
    • Another important thing, there are many types of rice. Different amounts of water are used to prepare each rice. Here we are telling you how to make rice in cooker from Basmati rice.
    • Take 1 cup Basmati rice and wash it thoroughly in water. Rinse the rice with water at least 2 or 3 times or until the water used to wash the rice becomes clear. Wash the rice gently so that it does not break. This process is necessary because rice contains a lot of starch. When you wash it properly, this starch is removed and the rice does not become sticky.
    • After washing the rice, keep it soaked for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Remember, do not soak the rice for more than 20 minutes, otherwise the rice becomes too soft and starts breaking.
    • Now first put rice in the cooker and add water as per measurement. Grandmothers have been telling another trick for making rice. When you add water to the rice, check that there is just enough water to get the first knuckle of your finger wet.
    • Along with this, put the rice cooker on gas. Before closing the lid of the cooker, add some ghee to your rice. This will not only make your rice fluffy but it will also smell good.
    • One more tip. If you want, add a pinch of salt to your rice while cooking it. This increases the taste of rice. However adding salt is completely optional.
    • Now your rice is ready to eat.

How to make rice in an open vessel

  • To make chawal in an open vessel, keep the above mentioned points in mind while washing and soaking the rice.
  • Now put water in a pan on the gas. Keep the vessel bigger than the quantity of rice because firstly we have to add water in it and secondly the rice swells after being cooked, so there should be space in the vessel for it to swell.
  • When the water in the vessel becomes hot, add rice in it.
  • Add a little lemon juice until the rice boils lightly. This will make your rice very white.
  • One important thing, the rice should boil on medium flame. Secondly, you do not have to stir the ladle again and again while preparing rice. Due to this the rice will break and suffocate. You can just rotate the rice gently in between.
  • After the rice starts boiling, when you see the rice grains getting bigger, then check by pressing some rice between your finger and thumb. If your rice is pressed easily, it means the rice is ready, turn off the gas.
